Recycling Used CD’s / DVD’s
Project supervisors: Mr. Wiemann, Dr. Steck
The Objects:
used CD’s and DVD’s
The Objectives:
Collection for material recycling
The data layer of used CD’s and DVD’s is removed and the CD’s and DVD’s are then granulated. The polycarbonate granules can then be used again in production processes. This results in a substantial protection of resources.
Organization:
Department of Environmental Protection, Albertstr. 23c, 0761-203-7980
Procedure:
Collection spindles are provided at various locations in the university. At the bottom of this page you will find a list of collection points and contact persons.
As far as data protection is concerned, every person is responsible for their own data. It is sufficient to scratch the underside of the CD or DVD with a sharp object (such as a pair of scissors), preferably crosswise. Before the marking on the spindle has been reached, the stack should be taped up and placed in a carton from our contract partner for paper delivery.
Please send full cartons by internal mail to the Department of Environmental Protection, Albertstr. 23c
